Pet and play at your own risk

Cats are wild animals. They have sharp nails and teeth. The risk of scratches and bites is real.

Guests must follow all instructions given by Catoro staff.

Do not pick up the cats.

Be gentle and respectful when interacting with cats. You may pet the cats, play with them and brush them. If they wish to be closer to you, they may jump on your lap–if you're lucky! Do not grab the cats or restrain their movement in any way.

Cat Forest Rules

  • Children under 5 years old (including infants) are not allowed in the Cat Forest.

Children age 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18.

There must be one adult present for every two children.

Teenagers aged 13 - 17 may enter the cat forest unaccompanied.

  • Shoes are not permitted in the Cat Forest. Guests can choose to wear a pair of our clean cat slippers, go in socks, purchase new socks from the cafe, or ask for foot coverings if accommodations are required.

  • No running is allowed in the cat forest. Please use inside voices only. Many of our cats come from traumatic backgrounds and our goal is to encourage positive interactions with humans. The Cat Forest is a calm, quiet zone where the cats live - you must be respectful of the mood and energy of the cats.

  • Please remain calm and quiet around feeding cats. Do not disturb them or try to feed them yourself. Our cats have been brought from living situations that are often stressful. We work very hard to rehabilitate our cats to be calm and social companions.

Do not touch or handle the cats' food.

Do not wake a sleeping cat or pester it. Cats sleep 18 hours per day so there is a good chance some of the cats will be sleeping when you visit.

Do not, under any circumstances, reach into a litter box or stick your head into it. Do not touch litter. If a cat is using the litter box, do not crowd it.

  • We have a strict feeding schedule and diet plan for all our cats. They may not eat any food or treats brought in from the outside. Please watch your drinks at all times.

  • You will be asked to sanitize your hands before entering the cat room. There is a sink in the Cat Forest for anyone who may prefer to wash their hands.

  • Photos and videos are always welcome but please ensure you do not use any flash as it can scare the cats.

  • No running is allowed in the cat forest.

Do not chase after cats or try to stick your head in cat tunnels, beds or litter boxes.

Do not grab cats or try to herd them around the Cat Forest. This is the cats’ home and they are free to go wherever they please.

Please leave your displays of singing, dancing, gymnastics, and athleticism outside.

Catoro has a one-warning policy for misbehaviour in the Cat Forest.

Staff at Catoro may issue a warning if any rules are not being followed.

If you, your group or your children continue to break our rules, our staff will ask your whole group to exit the Cat Forest immediately.
