1. Book a Visit
Each cat at Catoro is unique. Their biography on our website may not capture the full range of their personality. Our Cat Forest is a cozy, calm environment for folks to meet kitties where they feel relaxed and comfortable.
It is mandatory that every adopter meets the cat they are interested in adopting. No adoption will be processed without a meeting.
2. APPLY TO ADOPT
You can fill out our application here.
Please include as much detail as possible so the adoption coordinator has a good sense of who you are and what you are looking for in a feline companion.
Please note that due to the volume of applicants, only those selected to move forward in the adoption process will be contacted.
3. CHECK YOUR INBOX
Our adoption coordinator will reach out via email to begin processing your application. This may include a phone interview, photos of your home, and supplemental paperwork such as a letter of permission from your landlord. Please double check your email is spelled correctly and make sure to check your spam folder.
It can take up to two weeks to hear back about an application but please feel free to follow up if you haven't heard back after a week. Adoption approval is based on the best match for the cat(s), and not first-come-first-served.
4. GET READY!
If your application is approved, you will be sent an adoption contract. Adoption fees are paid differently depending on which rescue your new kitty is coming from. The rescue will either ask for a direct e-transfer or the adoption fee can be paid through Catoro.
Make sure you are prepared to bring your new kitty home - Catoro stocks all the essentials to keep your cat happy and healthy. We also offer monthly subscriptions and local delivery.
5. Pick up your new cat
Once all paperwork is complete and the adoption fee has been paid, the rescue will send an official adoption confirmation email.
Catoro will then reach out to assign a pick up date and time.
Please note that pickup times and dates are limited. Unscheduled pickups will not be accommodated. We require at least 24 hours notice to change a pick up date.
Catoro can usually accommodate pick ups within 1 week of adoption, but the wait time may fluctuate depending on how many adoptions we have pending.

Adopting a living, breathing animal is a serious commitment. Cats are not an accessory and they require care, love and attention. Rescue cats may come with a lot of behavioural quirks, and it can take a cat a long period of time to settle into a new environment. This is especially true if there is another cat in the new household.
Our team works diligently to ensure that every cat is matched with the best possible adopter. If you are having issues post-adoption, please don't hesitate to reach out to us for support.
If your cat is really not a good fit, we will accept the cat back to Catoro within 10 days of adoption and receive a refund minus a non-refundable $50 processing fee.
If, after the 10-day grace period, unforeseen issues occur, we will always take a cat from Catoro back to Catoro.
